POETRY FROM THE HEART
Years ago you met by chance as most couple usually do
Little did you know you’d still be together, that love would remain so true.
Though you’ve had your share of struggles and pain, you’ve held on to each other.
And I was lucky enough to be born into this world with such a caring father and mother.
If you look back over all the years I think you’ll agree that the good outweighs the bad;
And the things we’ve shared, projects done, pets loved--are more that most have ever had.
Years ago, Dad, you looked out a window and saw a young beauty polishing a car;
Mom, you questioned “who is that airman, who sits strumming his guitar?
And the story began that would become your life, a journey of 56 years
That has brought you to this time and place, through all the joy and tears.
You’ve stood by each other when health has failed and when war took dad away
And I know that the strength of that deepest caring is what got you here today.
Things are tough for us all right now as time robs us of memories past,
But I know that the love that we have for each other will help us to hold fast.
And that if God blesses you with more years together, that love will still be true
Although it’s been tested time and again; I know that--- because I know you.
Deep down you care and deep down you know that the two of you were meant to be;
And I pray that although some days may be hard, you still will somehow see
That you each are a part of each other’s lives, each a half of something whole.
That love has kept you both together and is still there deep within your soul.
So I ask God to bless you today and always, as you journey through this life;
And I thank him for the two greatest people, my mom and dad, husband and wife.
